Training is held monthly at Commonleys Farm on the same Sunday as Paul Curling's Clay Pigeon Shoot on 40 acres of fenced pasture land. The farm includes a private pub open on our days with bacon butties and cream teas on sale. Accommodation in lodges is available and camping with electrics. Our aim is also to promote the two aspects of our sport , handling skills combined with an opportunity to appreciate the art of shooting There are 2 days booked at Over Whitacre, an Open Field Trial Ground for those handlers who wish to progress to live game. Natural Ability Test Held in August this day included hunting and pointing partridge, a pigeon retrieve over a jump and another from water, a track of a rabbit off the leash and a gun sensitivity assessment. 10 dogs took part, 4 X GSP's , 3X HV's, 2 X HWV's and a KG with ages ranging from 6 months to 3 years of age. All dogs completed every test and received a Certificate of Attendance presented by Paul Curling, Proprietor of Commonleys Clay Shoot. Thanks to judges Madge Simons, Pete Garraway and Larry. Also to Jennifer Hurley for photographs, can't wait to see them ! It was so exciting when handlers thought their dogs couldn't track, hunt, point, jump or retrieve fur and feather but each dog showed its natural abilities by completing each task. A great day and many thanks for your support.
